Let's talk about risks!

CONVERSATION GUIDE

Resources for Taking Risks

Here we share resources that have helped our podcast guests and the two of us take risks that we believe in! Taking a risk is scary, exhilarating, and all the feelings, but you don't have to do it alone.

Gina Pell shares her perspective on the Perennial Mindset. It's all about continuous curiosity. Or as Pell puts it, "being Perennial is about finding connections between ourselves, the world, and other people." Share your curiosity with others! It's risky and vulnerable and it just might open up a world of possibilities!

Brené Brown directly connects the ability to be clear on our values to the courageous risks we take (even the risk of just getting out of bed in the morning). Use this guide to dig in, name your values, and then see how constantly coming back to what you value will positively guide who you are, how you show up in this world, and the risks you take.

Roxane Gay outlines thirteen rules on how to be in relationship with the women in our lives in the book Bad Feminist. A supportive community can act as the soft ground that catches you when you make a risky leap. Take a read and consider how you show up for women and how the women in your life show up for you. Rule 1: "Abandon the cultural myth that all female friendships must be bitchy, toxic or competitive. This myth is like heels and purses – pretty but designed to slow women down."
